Remember that exciting back-to-school feeling? New notebooks, fresh supplies, and the chance to start over?

Well, your business deserves that same energy this September.

Think of it as spring cleaning, but for fall. You don’t need to overhaul everything; just a few small tweaks can make a big difference before the year wraps up.

    Spruce Up Your Online Look

When’s the last time you updated your LinkedIn profile? If you’re squinting trying to remember, it’s time for a refresh. Swap out that old photo, update your headline, and add any new skills you’ve picked up this year. It takes maybe 15 minutes and makes you look current and professional.

While you’re at it, take a quick scroll through your social media. Do your bios match what you’re actually doing now? Are your profile pictures consistent? If not, spend a few minutes updating them. Your future self will thank you when potential clients see a polished, cohesive brand.

Don’t forget your website. Check that your contact info is right, your services are accurate, and all your links actually work. Add all of those great testimonials you’ve been meaning to post.

    Get Your Money Stuff Sorted

Okay, let’s talk numbers. Take a peek at what you’ve been spending this year. Any surprises? This is a great time to spot where your money’s going and maybe redirect some funds.

And here’s a thought, are you charging enough?

If you’ve gotten better at what you do (and you probably have), your prices might need to catch up. It’s totally okay to adjust your rates.

    You’re worth it.

Give Your Marketing a Little Love

Planning content doesn’t have to be complicated. Even jotting down a few ideas for the next couple months helps you stay consistent. If you have an email list – time for a little cleanup. Remove people who never open your emails and maybe send a “hey, we miss you” message to others.

Oh, and those online reviews? They matter more than you think. Respond to the ones you haven’t gotten to yet, and don’t be shy about asking happy customers for new reviews. People really do read them.

    Invest in You

Here’s the fun part: what new skill have you been wanting to learn? Maybe it’s finally time to take that online course or attend the workshops that Northstar hosts every month. Learning something new isn’t just good for business; it’s good for your confidence, too.

Take a moment to think about your goals. What did you want to accomplish this year? What do you want to focus on next year? Write it down. There’s something powerful about seeing your goals on paper.

    Clean Up Your Space

Last but not least, look around your workspace. Is it helping you or stressing you out? Spend an afternoon decluttering. Toss what you don’t need, and organize what you do.

    Ready to Refresh?

A September business refresh doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Pick a few areas that resonate with you and tackle them one at a time. Small changes now can lead to big results later, and honestly, there’s something satisfying about checking items off your list.
